  • North Carolina has a new Tobacco Use Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW(1-800-784-8669). Callers can speak to trained tobacco quitting specialists who, upon request, can call participants back to check on their quitting progress. The quitline provides free support and information for all North Carolinians.

    • Available 8 a.m.-midnight; 7 days a week
    • English, Spanish and other languages
    • For youth and adults
    • For deaf/hard-of-hearing: TTY 1-877-777-6534
  • The quitline cannot inform anyone of a caller's participation in quitline services due to confidentiality issues, however, the caller can request a Certificate of Enrollment to provide evidence of participation in an evidence-based cessation support program via the quitline. The certificate is then sent directly to the caller, not the provider. (Note: To be eligible for the Certificate, the caller needs to enroll in the callback program)

The quitline is co-funded by the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund and by the NC Division of Public Health.

Spit Tobacco Information

Spit tobacco, which includes smokeless tobacco, dip, snuff, chew, and chewing tobacco, contains chemicals and additives that can cause serious health problems. Users can suffer from receding gums, cavities, and even oral cancer. These products can be highly addictive. The challenges of quitting such products can be as challenging as quitting smoking. Speak to your healthcare provider about help in quitting and call the NC Tobacco Use Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669) for help and support.
