History of Quit Now NC!
Quit Now NC! (QNNC!) is a health professional collaborative and initiative for tobacco use cessation. QNNC! conducts outreach and training for physicians and health professionals, develops simple cessation tools, maintains a cessation website with a county cessation directory, and promotes two telephone-based cessation quitlines and their associated websites.

Quit Now NC! is funded by the NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch and the NC Cancer Prevention and Contral Branch, both located within the NC Division of Public Health.

Become a part of Quit Now NC! Every health care setting and professional can join the Quit Now NC! Collaborative. Participants will receive Quit Now NC! e-letters, can use Quit Now NC! materials and learn about the latest science, resources and trainings available to help their clients quit tobacco addiction. - Physician, Health Professional, and Health System Outreach - Second only to a smoke-free worksite, a physician's advice is most effective in helping patients successfully quit smoking. The Quit Now NC! partners conduct outreach to doctors, health professionals and health care systems by providing the latest tools and ongoing support. Click here for QNNC! recruitment brochure. - Simple Tools for Health Professionals - The Starting the Conversation on Tobacco tool is available to help healthcare professionals or consumers start the conversation about tobacco use and to establish referral for more intensive counseling as needed. Health departments and public clinics can get these materials and limited promotional materials by contacting Julie Helsabeck at the NC Tobacco Prevention and Control Branch at (919) 733-1342. Private doctor offices can order Starting the Prevention Conversation tools. For information about ordering Quit Now NC! materials, click here. - NC Good Health Directory - A comprehensive NC directory of local cessation programs and providers are listed by county to assist people and physicians in locating services and vendors throughout NC who can aid those ready to quit smoking, chewing, and spitting
- Quit Line - The NCI Smoking Quitline is available for free at 1-800 QUIT NOW, M-F from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. along with a companion website at smokefree.gov.
